Cress Darwin is a Texas boy, born and raised in Fort Worth where he attended Texas Christian University. He received a BFA in theatre with a secondary focus on broadcast media. These interests led him to New York City where he was actually able to make a living as a “New York actor,” off-Broadway producer and television writer/producer specializing in documentaries for the A&E network series, Biography. He is married to the former Rebecca Wesson from Columbia, SC, whom he met in New York on a Super Bowl Sunday. Rebecca is founder of Garden & Gun magazine. She and Cress have two daughters, Lily and SaSa. Cress received his M.Div. from Princeton Seminary, taught in the Speech and Communications Department and earned a Masters of Theology in ethics.


Church Administrator - Steven C. Baines

Steven C. Baines is Second Presbyterian’s Church Administrator. Steven is a Charleston, SC native who has returned home after twenty-five years in our nation’s capital. He brings a wealth of knowledge having served since 2018 as Executive Minister at National City Christian Church, the “national cathedral” of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He has also held senior leadership positions at national civil rights organizations including Americans United for Separation of Church and State, People For the American Way, and Equal Partners in Faith.

Steven did his undergraduate studies at Furman University in Greenville, SC and his theological study at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. He currently resides in West Ashley with Rick Mohn, his husband of 14 years. Together they are the proud parents to adoptive cats, Smokey, Bandit, and Chynna.


Director of Music - Dr. Julia Harlow

Julia Harlow is the Director of Music and Organist at Second Church and teaches music (ear training, organ and world music) at the College of Charleston. Originally from Iowa, her doctoral and masters degrees in organ and harpsichord performance are from the University of Oregon. She served on the board of the American Guild of Organists for 11 years and has been with us at Second Church for even more! 


Director of Communications and Community - Jordyn Pritchard

Jordyn (she/her) is from Peachtree City, Georgia and attended the University of Georgia where she graduated with honors with a BFA in art and a minor in religion. She has worked as a freelance graphic designer and artist since moving to Charleston in 2010 and at Second Presbyterian since 2017. She currently lives in West Ashley with her husband, Aled, and stays busy trying to keep up with their three children. Raised Baptist, Jordyn found a home in the Presbyterian Church by way of her Scottish husband and they have been members of Second Presbyterian since 2014. She loves midweek small groups and meeting with people to discuss big ideas over coffee. In her free time she enjoys painting, working on house projects, and watching Everton and Georgia football.


Director of Children and Youth Education - Ken Carrington

Ken was born in Ann Arbor, MI, and has two sons, Tripp and Beckett. He is sports announcer for the River Dogs and the College of Charleston. Ken is an elder, teaches kindergarten at SPK, and is Director of Children and Youth Education for Second Presbyterian. He plays the flute, bagpipes, piano, Irish whistle and loves sound design and makes the church videography possible. His greatest joy is teaching the Children’s sermon. Ken is currently continuing his education and is a candidate for a Commissioned Pastor in the Presbyterian Church.


Chancel Choir Director - Lee Lingle

Lee holds a BA in Music from the College of Charleston where he studied choral conducting and performed in the College’s elite performing ensembles. He has performed in the Charleston Symphony Chorus in numerous concerts with both the Charleston Symphony and the Spoleto Festival Orchestra. Lee is a founding member and currently serves on the board of directors of the Taylor Festival Choir.  The Taylor Festival Choir is one of the country's elite professional choirs which has released several cds, the most recent of which was on the Grammy ballot. When not engaged in choral studies, Lee can be found enjoying the beauty of the lowcountry from his kayak or entertaining friends while making BBQ on his smoker.  


Co-Director of Kindergarten - Sue Henderson

Sue Allen Henderson has been Director of the Second Presbyterian Kindergarten since 1977. She has served as an elder and as a deacon at Second Presbyterian and on the Christian Education Committee in several capacities including as chair. She has been on the Boards of The Charleston Museum and Life Management. Sue is a graduate of The College of Charleston and has taught kindergarten for 42 years. 


Co-Director of Kindergarten - Erin Kerr

Erin Evans Potter Kerr is a native of Memphis, Tennessee and a graduate of the College of Charleston. Erin is married to Douglas Kerr and has two children, Grace (13) and Samuel (11). Erin has worked with children the past 21 years and currently serves as Assistant Director of Second Presbyterian Kindergarten and Preschool. In her free time, Erin likes to play outside with her family, cook, run, and be with friends.
