Meet at the church parking lot by 8:30 a.m.

Saturday, June 3, 2023
Meet at the church at 8:30 a.m. | Walk at 9:00 a.m.

Pride offers a time to come together in joy and celebration as members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community. We believe everyone is whole, worthy, and loved and should be welcomed into belonging just as they are and we're excited to walk for the third time as a group in the Charleston Pride parade! The Church is not always a source of love and care for marginalized people and at Second Presbyterian, we are committed to be active participants in loving all God's people in the way of Jesus.

Creator God,
you love all that you have created, and you celebrate the diversity of your creation. We ask that you give us the grace to celebrate our LGBTQ+ siblings as they live authentically in the world. Be with those who feel unsafe to live their true identity. May they know they are not alone and that you, the God of love, celebrates and affirms their lives. Teach us to honor and celebrate their gifts and help us to create a world in which your LGBTQ+ children are loved, accepted and celebrated, in every space and every place that speaks your name.
Amen.

April 21. 2020

We had a great turnout for our first time participating in the Pride parade. 50 members and supporters had signed up either to walk or for moral and financial support. There was a great atmosphere amongst the 34 walkers representing all different groups of the church as we set out down John Street. The kids did a great job decorating the truck with the Second Presbyterian name and “You Are Loved” slogan for which we won best truck at the Pride Festival! As we went along we handed out Second Presbyterian postcards inviting everyone to join us for a service and the bible verse Micah 6:8, “seek justice, love mercy, walk humbly.” It was such a great day bringing everyone together for a great celebration of God's love.

Second Presbyterian Church Pride Walk & Lunch

One of the coolest and most significant things about Charleston is not just the beautiful Palmetto trees or our mutual distaste for mosquitos, but our diversity. This diversity is on display right here in Second Presbyterian Church!

We are a multi-ethnic, inter-generational, affirming church growing and evolving to joyfully face the challenges of a world so in need of Christ's teaching, love and inexhaustible grace. We are unapologetically inclusive and this inclusivity is a direct reflection of the Kingdom of Heaven.

As great stewards of God’s work, promoting Jesus’ love for all, our session has unanimously decided to participate in the 2019 Charleston Pride Parade on September 14th - six weeks away!

2ndpc pride.jpg

Starting at Wragg Mall on Meeting Street and ending at Colonial Lake, we ask for the delight in both your encouragement and support in joining other members of this church in a 1.8 mile walk promoting love and unity, in the spirit of reflecting that our house, being God’s house, has no borders, bounds or walls, and that truly all are welcome.

Registration is just $15, which goes directly toward church t-shirts and food for a lunch hosted at the church at the conclusion of the parade. Other participating congregations will be invited to the lunch and it will be open to the community, so the meal will be a wonderful time of fellowship.

If you would be so called to join us on the walk, at the lunch, or through your support, please sign up!
