Dear Friends in Christ,
The Nobel Prize winner in literature, Bob Dylan, wrote a song, “Gotta Serve Somebody”. And if we have chosen to serve Jesus, the living Christ, then there are things we gotta do, like serve God’s own. You can walk into the Fellowship Hall and see the posters on the wall, but they hardly cover the scope of the ways this congregation – you/we care in so many ways, from the unhoused to those in transition, to the children and to the world – each finding your joy in your calling loving God’s own as you love yourself.
This Sunday we spend time with a man with no family, no friends, no plans and no prospects because he shared no love. Feel the chill?
So, after church we celebrate the life of one who did have friends, who had a Second Family and continues to inspire from his new ‘zip code’. Join us after worship as we celebrate Melvin.
