Second Presbyterian Church, following Christ’s directives in Matthew 25 to care for all of God’s people, participates in many local/community, state, national, and global missions. Joining with other Presbyterian churches in our Charleston Atlantic Presbytery and in the PC(USA), we receive special offerings during the year.

During the Easter Season, our contributions to One Great Hour of Sharing are combined with other Presbyterian Churches to serve the most vulnerable around the world, offering aid to people lacking access to life’s basic necessities.

In May we have the opportunity to remember those living in Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina who have outlived their retirement savings by supporting the Mother’s Day Offering. Our contributions are combined with those of other churches to support seniors living in places like the Village at Summerville and five other communities around the state.

During October, our World Communion Offering promotes reconciliation around the world. All of God's people gather around the Table to celebrate the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Part of the atonement that happens around this Table is reconciliation, which is the focus of the World Communion Offering. Experience the grace that comes from reconciling all peoples from all nations around the corner and around the globe through the ministry of this offering. 

The Thornwell Thanksgiving Offering is a special offering collected by Presbyterian churches in November to support Thornwell Home for Children. The offering specifically targets Thornwell's mission of preventing child abuse and neglect and rebuilding families. We usually donate this on the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

The Christmas Joy Offering, collected during Advent, provides support for church workers and their families and also for developing future leaders at Presbyterian-related schools and colleges. God has blessed the church with incredible leadership in every time and place, but those leaders often need to be supported by their communities as well. This Offering provides support for Presbyterian church workers and their families in their time of need and leadership development and education for communities of color at Presbyterian-related schools and colleges equipping communities of color.
