Second Presbyterian Kindergarten (SPK)

Our Mission

It is the mission of the Second Presbyterian Kindergarten (SPK) to provide a safe and happy environment for the education of young children in an atmosphere of Christian love.

Second Presbyterian Kindergarten welcomes children of all genders, races, religions and national or ethnic origins.

Second Presbyterian Church started a kindergarten in the 1950's. Sue Henderson began directing the kindergarten as we know it today in 1977 and it has been in continuous operation since. Many of the students enrolled in our school today are the children of the school's alumni! SPK serves families from the Charleston peninsula and surrounding areas, including West Ashley, North Charleston, Mt. Pleasant, Sullivan's Island, Johns Island, Wadmalaw Island, James Island, Rockville, Goose Creek and Summerville.

Our kindergarten has existed to be a mission to Charleston and the leading school for early childhood education downtown.
