A long-awaited renovation of Wragg Square in front of our Sanctuary began in January 2024. The Wragg Square Renovation Committee, comprised of members of the McGee family, city officials, members of Garden District Neighborhood Association, the Charleston Parks Conservancy and our Pastor, Rev. Cress Darwin, has been meeting on a regular basis seeking input and approval from all parties involved to design a lasting memorial to the legacy of Patti and Peter McGee in Wragg Square.

After much work, study, and consultation with arborists and park designers, four diseased water oaks were removed to create an open and inviting green space for all Charleston residents and visitors to enjoy. New live oak trees will be added among the existing live oaks, along with stone pathways, flowering plants, sod, irrigation, seating, brick repointing, and LED lighting to liven the space in memory of Patti McGee and her passion for gardening.

Join us for a celebration on Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

The #Race4Wanza Doughnut Dash 5K is an annual community event established in loving memory of Tywanza Sanders and his unforgettable legacy.

Medical Mission for the 21st Century

The Medical Benevolence Foundation began in the 20th century with missionary doctors and has transformed into work strengthening local leaders who oversee mission hospitals, clinics and nursing schools in the 21st century.

Second Presbyterian Church has supported MBF for over 50 years. Their work continues to help leaders who want better medical care for their communities and a more sustainable future for their medical ministries.

Our friends at the Colour of Music Festival were awarded a top grant and recognized as a Southern Cultural Treasure by South Arts. The Colour of Music Festival is headquartered here at Second Presbyterian.

The Festival was named as one of the 17 “Southern Cultural Treasures” by South Arts. The designation complements the Ford Foundation's America's Cultural Treasures initiative, which aims to acknowledge and honor the diversity of artistic expression and excellence in America and provide critical funding to organizations that have made a significant impact on America's cultural landscape.

Congratulations, Colour of Music!
